Photos of the week

Just a few of the pictures taken this week...

Germany by coke!

The boys on coaches D & E have been scouring the shops of the Rheine this week to find the names of Germany's victorious world cup team on coke bottles. They found their last one yesterday and I'm sure you'll recognise the familiar 4—2—1—2-1—1 formation!

Ready to leave!

We can't believe are heading back tomorrow. All the students have had a wonderful time enjoying the rivers and castles. After discos tonight everyone's  tucked up in bed ready for a long journey back tomorrow

Coach C reporting in!

Internet connections are not good at the hotel, so we have phoned school to give you this report.  We are taking lots of pictures, and you will all be able to see them on our return!  Our main message is that everything is going very well!

We had a peaceful journey and arrived at a lovely hotel with great food and great hosts!

On Tuesday we went to the Ehrenbreitstein fortress and enjoyed a lovely view over the Rhine and the Mosel.  We were so impressed that *everyone* plucked up the courage to go on the Rüdesheim gondola!  We then went to the Siegfrieds Musikkabinett.  In the evening we went for a walk in the park.

On Wednesday we were yet again delighted that *everyone* went up the chairlift at Boppard.  We had a lovely forest walk, then went to the Schloss Rheinfels where we explored the tunnels.  Next was a lovely river cruise on a nice boat ending up with visiting what Mr Tunmore describes as 'the loveliest village ever'.  After dinner we had a disco.

This morning we went to Cochem, then had lunch by the river.  We are about to visit the Deutsches Eck in Koblenz.

Bis morgen!  See you tomorrow!

Sunny on the Rheine

Sunshine on the Rheine

A lovely day to be on the river... Since students used the boat's captive audience to conduct some interviews in German :)

Goodnight from the Rheine

Coach D - Up and down

From the tunnels to the chair lift coach D had a great day, they were so tired they didn't complain about going to bed at nine!

Spaghetti Ice Cream!

Students on Coach E had possibly their best German experience today.... Spaghetti Ice Cream!

(They also enjoyed the castle at Burg Eltz... But not quite as much)

Excitement on coach B

Coach B has been exceptionally well behaved and all is well . Very hot weather so lots of water and sunblock stops. Been on 2 cable cars so far and have another ride tomorrow. Joe Rabbets is excited about disco tomorrow eve( which is of course to celebrate his birthday)!  Berg Elz today and then Cochem shopping!

Coach A - Castles and rivers!

So far Germany has been a great hit for the occupants of coach A. The armoury of the burg Eltz prompted many questions for our very knowledgeable guide as did the story of the ghostly Agnes.  The climb back up the hill was interestingly some of us over the age of 12 preferring to linger at the back to admire the view!  We followed with a trip to the lovely town of Cochem. I hope the parents and siblings enjoy their carefully chosen gifts.

Today we are cruising along the Rhine in trusty coach A admiring castles en route for a tour of the  music centre having just visited the statue of the Lorelei, the lovely siren which lured careless Rhine boatmen onto the rocks.

I think many parents will be expanding their knowledge of this part of Germany on our return whether they like it or not!

Coach D & E update

Coach E had a hectic day today with an exciting visit to the mechanical music museum and a couple of fine musical performances from the students. They followed this with a trip to Lorelei to hear the story of the maiden that threw herself from the rocks when her lover failed to return! A trip on the cable car across the refine polished off a great day enjoyed by all.
Coach D enjoyed their visit to the impressive Burg Eltz castle and the enormous statue of William the Great on horse at the confluence of the Rhine and the Mosel.

We're here!

We have arrived! After a long journey on coach and ferry everyone arrived safe and well yesterday evening. A full programme for all coaches today, so look out for some photos this evening...it's very hot!
